Good day to the EX Community
I have a problem. Since I've upgraded to dual Video card (SLI) 9800GTX, i've been getting computer freeze. Have to press the reset button then reboot.
Sometime I can play for hours, days without it freezing on me. It's not a random thing.
Before I've put the second 9800gtx card in, the system was ok.
Now with both card in the system I get freeze (Monitor goes blank). I had a 650 watt power supply in it, so i tought it was that, I've upgraded to a 800 watt power supply it does the same thing.
Also I have flash my motherboard to the latest bios. Same thing.
Been searching the web and tried all kind of thing to no help at all.
I was thinking could it be because the video card don't have the same bios. Could that be it?
Any suggestion or idea would be appreciated.
Thanks
My spec are
P6T motherboard
I7 2.66GHz processor
6 gig of DDR3 ram
650 watt powersupply replace it with a 800 watt PS

I'm not crashing with BFBC2. Just with TF2. Maybe I should play more then 1 hour of BFBC2. Gonna try that tomorrow.

Well.. flashing bios of GPU is not that difficult to do.. so bringing them both to the same version is step 1 to try..
However, have you tested that second one on its own to ensure it is ok?

It's used to be in my father case. He's not a gamer and he had 2 9800 GTX video card in sli. For what I don't know. Maybe i'm gonna exchange my old one with is then I will have two of the same with same bios.

actually Tannant i forgot to say this, if they are 9800GTX, are they both running at the same speeds, i know when i bought my 9600GT SLI cards i had to make sure their Bus Speed and everything else was the same, if they are not the same sometimes you might be running into problems. I dunno but that could be the case

I did, then I rolled back, because some people said that the newest nvidia driver that came out in march burn there video card.

Well now I'm running two 9800gtx with the same bios... I've played all day yesterday, then went idle and play some more and idle again and the system never hang, freeze, or fuck up...
Very happy, seem to be working the way it was suppose to.
Thanks for the help guys :)

If it's of any help, I think the newest nvidia drivers are supposed to be safe. They released a set of drivers in early March that messed up the fans and could burn out cards, but the next iteration (173.16 I think?) fixed that and are fine as far as I know

The latest set is safe. Try updating drivers and see what happens.

I have 2 GTX260s OC'd in SLi and they work beautifully for every game I play.
I am always looking for updates for all the components in my computer though.
I want to upgrade again...lol, I can never have enough power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do you have your processor overclocked?
do you have the settings in the Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3D games -> "the tf2 .exe file" <the tf2.exe="" hl2.exe="" file=""> all set to default?
have the latest drivers?
*just for info, I have all the TF2 in game settings max'd except for AA/AF which are at like x4</the>
