K, problem:
Mic is killing sound of other people when in-game on TF2. Mic works fine in L4D2, Mumble, and Ventrilo.
Question:
What can be done to correct this problem or does anyone have any ideas?

I've noticed a bunch of peoples mics that do this, where they talk and all the sound of the game disapears. Don't really know what causes it.
If I had to take a random stab I'd say to turn off mic boost maybe.
Did a quick google search and couldnt find any solutions, but a couple people have the problem, the one thing that kept popping up was 64 bit windows and sound blaster audigy.
Best bet would be to find a friend with a mic and swap it out just to see if it is the mic itself or something else.

I think Mumble automatically puts you at the right mic level so it will sound the same regardless of mic boost. So yeah it sounds like your recording level/mic boost may be up too much for in-game... if it is cutting others' sound out, I would say it is clipping over the top and needs to be turned down some.

Well if they're using vista/win7 you might want to check out what the sound stack option is set at. It will automatically mute/reduce the volume of the other sounds while talking.
here go to control panel -> sound options -> communications
I have 'Do nothing', since I do not want anything to be muted (except phil, but sadly MS hasn't came out with that option yet :/ I'm sure they have a team dedicated days/nights to get this feature)

I have the same problem, Some users report that they are able
to hear me clearly and some say i sound static and some just curse at
me and tell me to STFU coz i am killing their ears or their sounds in the game.
I have 3 different mics, 2 of them attached to headphones and one is with out
a headphone. None i have tried so far which is with out problems.
Could it be my configs/settings?? Or maybe other peoples settings?? I have integrated sound card.
Any suggestions??

If you are using mumble for voice, try turning off the voice controls ingame desable voice it might help.

The first thing everyone should do is run the Audio setup wizard thing. It will adjust all your volumes...just follow through the steps.

I will give it a shot, Thanks a lot.
If this fails i might try to get a USB mic.
Maybe its my sound card coz i have 3 mics and all of
them r giving similar issues.
