So I don;t know what this is or how to disable it, but i seems if my screen has something darker colored on it, the screen itself gets darker. This is annoying when I play Fallout 3. Does anyone know how to disable this?

just undo whatever you did to make the screen darker???

vista wouldn't just make your screen darker for no reason lol, it's not the evil.

check Control Panel -> Display...play around with the settings in there.
check your video card settings (nvidia control panel if you have an nvidia card)
check your monitors brightness settings

What do you mean by darker? Fallout 3 is a dark game at times and you need to use the pipboy light to see. Kind of like most games with their flashlights.

No, I mean even if i go to a web page where like half of the screen is like black, the entire screen darkens, and then when i return to like white, it brightens again.

Sounds like theres a setting on somewhere either on your monitor or vid card to make black seem darker, some people complain that LCD's black is sort of dark grey.

I got the card about a year ago.

doesnt matter when u bought it, mine died within 3 days off buying it. Video cards can last 1 day to 10 years u just dont know. If ur still having the problem mecha its ur graphics card and it is almost dead, because if u cannot fix it by adjusting ur settings on ur monitor and ur settings in windows ur card is dieing, and it wont be long before ur gonna get a black screen. My suggestion would be to call up the company u bought it from, i dunno EVGA BFG XFX, whatever ur card company is and see what ur warranty is. If u have an EVGA or XFX Nvidia 8000-9000 series i know u have a lifetime warranty if u registred it within 30 days of purchase so u should be able to get a free card if u have that, other than that most cards have a 2 year warranty but u still have to pay a small fee of restockage or something like that.

But i would definately call the company who made ur card and find out from them if its a GPU problem, because if u havent fixed it by now im almost 80% sure its ur graphics card
