I don't know where to put this.. I have been using Malwarebytes, Combofix, and hijackthis for removing viruses. Some occasions when they don't work I use some others or my brains. There all free so I like that.

Just recently I decided to pay for malwarebytes about 25 bucks I think and it has some protection I figured it is so freaking awesome at getting rid of viruses or you can call it malware but most users classify anything that fucks with there computer a virus. That I would give it a shot.

Oh my god the protection is awesome, little annoying watching the balloon pop up saying it is blocking access from IP whatever.. I notice that it catches alot of stuff even going to facebook some of the adds won't load because it blocks it.

So I thought lets really put it to the test. I also have AVG running along with Malwarebytes protection. I start looking up cracks and serial numbers for random programs and warez sights. About the easiest way to get your computer infected. Several sights AVG blocked me from. Almost 60% of what AVG didn't block malwarebytes blocked. No popup the page will just not load if from a IP that MB blocks.

So then I decide I will download a crack and see what happens they always load something. First one I download AVG catches 2 files and deletes them. Second one I download avg didn't catch one thing but MB caught 2 files. then the next day caught a program located on my computer doing something and quarantined it actually found 2 more after that. Then I also noticed that more and more IP's were being blocked even when I wasn't on a browser.. So did a full scan of my computer with malwarebytes and got rid of 12 infections and the blocking IP's stopped when I wasn't on browser..

Kind of lengthy but bottom line looks like Malwarebytes paid version might be something to get. I didn't see anything slowing my system down while running it either.

Eh, I'll just pirate it. lol. Idk i've sed the free version and it's good, but I'd rather just run avg and run CCleaner and defrag of often to get rid of crap.

^^yes i know defragging doesn't get rid of 'viruses', but it can keep your computer running faster, immensely.

Me too I have never had any problems with the free version. I am just saying that I was amazed with the real time protection it has and how good it is at stopping the infections before they can get on my computer. and how it catches them even if after they slip thru. with out having to scan periodically.

Symantec Antivirus.. the non gui heavy corporated version of what Norton has grown from..

Works fine on everything, have had no virus in years and let's me do my thing when I want it.. Malware is better imo on removing viri, but cracks with viri according to both are also often bs from M$..

Keygen's are often reported as a virus just to prevent people using them.. almost funny :D want to believe in consperacy theories? Antivirus programs and M$.. there's a real one.

Well the actuall program was never flagged as malware it was the extra stuff that got installed with it. The cracked program I download worked fine but malware caught 2 files in a temp directory and caught 2 more in system32 folder getting rid of all of them didn't hurt the program from running perfect. I know most virus catch the program and definitly key gens all the time for no other reason but cause they are a key gen..

I should have added I was able to install and use the cracked program and keygen.. the malwarebytes program didn't effect that it just caught the extra crap that was getting installed with it.

Oh an also I didn't realize this was going to turn into who has the best antivirus lol.. But lets say I haven't had any viruses either just running free AVG... You can have the biggest dick(best anti-virus solution) in the world and I can assure you that every anti virus lets some sort of malware or even a virus through at some point.. They may not be anything that effects or does anything major but there will be somethings that get in. I was just showing people that for mere 25bucks one time no renewal fee ever that this little program does pretty good along side a virus protection. Wasn't trying to say that it was the only solution or best.

Keygens get flagged as infected because of the way they work. Most of the time they are clean. Just always know what it is you are downloading.

Also AVG has been slacking hardcore over the years. They have bloated their software so much and their detection has been lacking.

As a gamer, NOD32 is the way to roll: http://www.nod32.ie/solutions/gaming.php
Listed at the bottom is how to configure it to never interfere with gaming. I have never been bothered by NOD32 whether in or out of game. You never know it is running and it's one of the best.

In addition to NOD32 I run CCleaner every now and then. It's such an amazing free tool.

When it comes to anti spyware, they are all hit-n-miss. Different software will detect different things whereas the others will not. I've never tried malwarebytes but before I started using CCleaner I was a big fan of Spybot S&D.

Yea I always use ccleaner.. I like the command line so I have it run silently on startup..

Yes yes. Nice options on that little prog! I like the frequent updates too.

The reason I dropped Spybot is because CCleaner was finding everything spybot was, plus a bit more in some cases.

part of the reason not sure on spybot but I used to use ad aware. Reason CCleaner works as good or better is most everything ad aware found was in temp or cookies anyway and well CCleaner don't care it wipes all of it away unless you specify a cookie to keep. So much faster to use ccleaner.
