Need help with Steam on Far Cry.

Dowloaded Far Cry off of steam, and when I play it wont let me go into steam (Shift+tab) while in it. Normally it wouldnt bother me so much but the little CD key message takes up the part of the screen where my health is and it will only go away by pressing shift tab and it doesnt work.

well games like that don't use the steam engine. so the steam overlay isn't there.
so you would have to alt + tab OUT of the game and switch to your desktop or a steam window. that's what I have to do with far cry 2, and bc2, and any other non-steam engine game I own through Steam

non steam games have problem with the overlay sometimes. Like i have a copy of COD4 and when i run it through steam, PB poops it pants and says im using an external program and causes it to shut down, so i have to disable overlay for it

Oh, alright. Is there a way to disable the overlay for just a certain game?
