OK, hopefully we got some people here that have ran an email server.
I got Exchange 2003 Server running behind a firewall which is setup properly. This exchange server is setup for POP3 and Imap. Everyone uses outlook in exchange mode so we can share calanders and other things like most companies do. I also enabled exchange on the web.. SO they can access from home and it will look just like there opening up outlook at work. So nobody has needed to setup a pop3 account or Imap account. There are about 15 people that use outlook express within our network using pop3 and have no problems connecting to the sever and sending email.
Here is the problem listen closely cause how I explain it will prove that firewall is setup right so don't go with a firewall problem.
First this problem only happens if I am at home or somewhere outside our network. I can setup Imap or Pop3 and receive my emails fine no problem.. I can even authenticate with the SMTP server and send emails to anyone with our domain name... lets say our domain name is frank.com. I can email anyone that has @frank.com in there email.. As soon as I try one like @yahoo.com or @anythingelse.com it gives me a 5.1.3 Invalid address Error.
We use policy Patrol as our spam filter. I am getting ready to rule out the spam filter as the problem in a few minutes..
We know this by what I said. SMTP communication from outside network is working cause i can send email to my fellow employees. I also can recieve emails so we know that pop3 adn imap is setup correctly. Because I have 15 people using pop3 within our network tells me that SMTP service is working properly.
This may be way too far from what most people in a gaming community does. But reponses are usually faster then those tech places out there on the internet..
