Im looking for a desktop because my computer isn't that good. I use a laptop because i needed a portable computer and such. Its an Xps M1530 lol.

Anyway eventually i would like to buy a desktop that can play tf2 and l4d2 and other sweet games with ease. Not Crysis good but good none the less. Preferably cheap because i dont want to spend all my money on a desktop.

Any body want to give me some tips on a cheap sweet-ass desktop. lol

$1000 is a LOT to work with, even in make-believe Canadian bucks. (:P)

I can give you some ideas after work today.

You could get 2 sticks of the 2gb ram for 4 wouldn't hurt you.. and probably get 2 dvd burners so it would be easier to copy movies and stuff. That should add up to about 800 bucks.. you can pick a different case.. I just saw the 550w power supply with it.. I think you need at least 500w for the vid card. Biostar boards are good.. I have been using mine since 2002 and still going strong.

Build your own, you can do it quickly and cheaply and make it easy to upgrade in the future.

^ That sucks, I knew a couple canadians that were close to the boarder though and they had american friends so they bought items and had them shipped to their friends house then drove over and picked them up. Don't know where you are or if your close to the border but just saying.

I'd probably recommend you DIY, start with http://www.anandtech.com/guides/ though they haven't done a new guide, it's still a good place to start.

Since your in canada,
www.canadacomputers.com
www.newegg.ca
www.ncix.com
are the three places I get my stuff from. There is also DirectCanada, but they have weak sauce customer service.
