Queue too long

Other members as well.

Suggesting that Ex members get some type of priority when trying to get on the server. What do you guys think?

I understand that during prime time hours that it can be very difficult to get in the server. However, I don't believe in hidden reserve slots, it should be first come first serve, available to everyone.

Djinn I feel you pain :) peek time can be difficult to get into.

However, I don't think there is any good solution. I don't think that auto join/ queue feature includes any sort of priority feature. The only thing left would be reserve slots or, kicking people. Neither of which are a good idea imo.

i would not be opposed to it if it only booted non |Ex| membs, and only booted non-members if they were total fail (like a spy that has been on for 2 hours and has 1k/15d, we have all seen this guy [or it could boot djinn])

yeah but the definition of total fail would be too subjective and it would probably get abused. Also nubs still have a right to play and try to figure stuff out even if it is hurting your team :). Also we don't want people getting pissed off because they got kicked for no reason.

Priority to ex members that kicks most recent non-ex to join would be an idea... (just spitballin') at some point I'd like to host a tf2 and l4d2 server... probably next year after I move.

It is very frustrating to have to go other places and just hope the queue picks you up or spam it. Sometimes I don't even play TF2 cause it's full.

I am thinking of getting a Tf2 server.. It would be private, I could just give it to EX members and to any other regulars for an overflow when the public goes down. What company you go with.. wouldn't be tell february tho..

Kicking people isn't an option. You can only kick people when they are afk for too long and it shouldn't discriminate between Ex and non Ex imo. Other than that just kicking random people or people cause they are bad is going to ensure that not just prime time but all the time the server will have plenty of room, because no one will want to play on a server they can get booted. Just because they aren't great or cause an ex member joined.

Also I think these whole more server ideas are not very good ideas. Everyone is going to wanna play on the "real server". I think we had a second server for a while, I don't think it ever really got used. If your looking for overflow there is the ammomod server or the prop hunt server that can provide some good times while you wait.

I remember we had 'invisible' reserved slots in the past. The server would show it had a capacity of 31 but it could be pushed up to 32 if you knew how to do it. I liked that system but if someone thinks everyone should be equal that wouldn't be good either.

I don't like the reserved slot thing, especially the ones that try to connect then say "kicked due to slot reservation". All that does is piss people off.

The only thing I can think of doing is maybe lowering the time on the auto kicking, I don't know what its set to right now but it seems like it takes a while to kick afkers. Although you dont want to set it too low, I'm sure that would be annoying lol, it would start kicking campers and such.

The most I've waited is like 5 minutes. Doesn't bother me too much.

Is there an option or plugin to auto connect people if full to another server.. I would think that would work possibly.

I kinda like Scruga's Idea, We do 33 now anyways, making 1 slot hidden and only set to 32 (33 when an Ex jumped in). This isn't that bad, because the next time someone quits it will be back to the even 32.

If There is going to be a hidden slot again it definitely needs the special command like last time.

The most annoying thing ever is seeing "server is full due to reservation slot" Because it makes it so you can no longer use the auto join function. This problem is also created if the server forces you to a different server every time it is full.

That being said its not that often there is a 30min wait. Must have just been bad luck on your part coming in just after a map change and the server was filled up. Most times you get in as soon as a map change because 5-6 usually quit.

I know Kaplan and the others wait for a spot just like everyone else, which is one of the reasons the server is so noobie friendly and popular.

I agree, I have never waited 30 mins, most about 5-10. I normally just jump on a few servers and auto join in.

Personally I have never waited more than 5 or 10 min to get in, I will just hit autojoin, go do something for a few min, I come back and I'm in the server.

I'm not sure if there is a plugin to allow this but I know when you click "autojoin" it starts a "waiting list" and you get to join the server by the order you are in line, if there was a way to alter that waiting list to allow certain people to the front of the line that would probably be the best option. Noone gets kicked, just nonmembers have to wait a few min longer. Idk if that is an option, just tossing out the idea.

The system I described was something we had in the past, and don't have now, so there probably is a reason we don't have it no more.

The best part is when you select to join automatically when a slot becomes available, then you look about 20 minutes later and it's at like, 31/33

just put on autojoin and go get a drink, walk your dog, etc. I've never had it last more than 10 minutes. It helps if you occasionally click the join or refresh button so you can beat one of the other people waiting in line in.
