something similar to like giving 'kudos' to people who provide useful information or help. completely user driven so if a user thinks something is really useful then they can give rep points to the person who provided it. probably isn't too necessary right now since we are already familiar with who provides what services to the community but when you have many people trying to get into |EX| then you can use the amount of kudos they have received as another way to help in your selection process.
EDIT: the valve forums use this reputation system just as a reference if you have no idea what I'm talking about :D

Rep is useful for PC-building forums and porn sites from my experience.
I've never been on a porn site though...

I'm not sure if reputations should stay enabled or not. Don't foresee them being used here much but we'll see.

Yea I mean I really don't see the point of it unless we could have something for the highest repped member per month, i.e. name on the front page. Would need to be automated and don't know how useful it would be lol.

Rep is more important on sites that provide help or some sort of service. It is a way to recognize high quality and quantity of help and service.while occasionally help is asked for I don't know it is enough to justify the rep, although maybe it is.
