Any of you an experience helicopter pilot that can give some advice? Do I need a joystick? I have only about 5 minutes as pilot, but I keep letting my team down and crashing or not circling fast enough and getting shot down.

mouse works fine as well...
Main thing is to understand these choppers fly like freighters and take a lot of time to adjust movements..
For the rest.. maybe we need to put you in a server and just learn you some basics ;)

suggestion 1: practice in an empty server. flying a helicopter can be difficult if you're trying to do tricky maneuvers. just keep the chopper up in the air and doing simple turns and flybys is simple. check out this vid : YouTube- BF:BC2 Basic Helicopter Tutorial
suggestion 2: modify your mouse sensitivity options using this : http://fitzsimmons.ca/bfbc2configtool-alpha-release-1/
that will change sensitivities when using tanks turrets (you can turn them faster), UAVs (easier to move crosshairs and turn UAV), choppers (rolling the chopper left and right is more controlled, harder to make the chopper go out of control)
basically, just keep watching lots of vids on youtube about it. just search for bc2 helicopter tutorials. it's always been hard for people to fly choppers in battlefield games. like 90 percent of the players suck at flying choppers, and the last 10 percent are really good because once you know how to fly, it's all just about learning the limits to what you can do (backflips and stuff ;) haha)
i used to use a joystick on BF 92/vietnam/BF2. Was especially useful for flying planes. But that joystick is in a closet somewhere collecting dust. I just use the mouse to fly choppers. You just kinda have to practice it. I picked it up pretty quickly, the 3rd or 4th time i flew one I kept it in the air and my teammates got me some kills. also the blackhawk is much harder to fly then the attack one (cant think of its name right now).
