Compatibility question.

There was a delay in my Dvd reader shipping (and only the reader --;.. they couldn't find a closer place to ship one than from LA?), and I was wondering if it'd be ok to try and put windows 7 on my new pc (when I get it, and have it built) with my old dvd reader (if it'll work, or for the question, any dvd reader that wont permanently be in my build) so it can be all ready to go on Monday (when I have time to be here for the ups guy, and time to put it togther and shit) Rather than waiting for the permanent dvd reader to arrive on wed/thurs. (so fucking gay --;.. originally they were all arriving on the same day, but then I guess it got delayed coming over the border or some shit, so now it'll take 2 days longer). FML

i dont see why not, its like adding a new hard drive, ur computer detects it, but until u format it, it wont work

Yes you can use a old dvd drive to install WIn7 on your new system. When you get the new one, just do the switch.
